Kenya’s population is set to grow by more than 10 million over the next 10 years, that’s a 1.8% increase year-on-year, 0.75% more than the global benchmark predicted for 2020. Through ABiQ’s forecasting tool, we predict Kenya’s population will exceed 65 million by 2030.
The country’s latest GDP is about to cross US $100 billion, or about $1,840 per capita. As an agriculturally based economy, this makes up the bulk of its exports.
Electricity demand will reach 2.5 GW. Over 4 million new housing units will be required and an estimated 1.2 million square metre of retail space needed.
By 2030, we estimate there will be 16.8 million children attending school. Based on a ratio of 30 children per teacher, that means 76,000 new teachers will be required over the next 10 years.
Approximately 80 new hospitals are going to be needed to support the increase in population, alongside an additional 2,300 new physicians to maintain the current standard of living.
