Less than 40 percent of the population has access to reliable power.  It has energy resources in the form of hydro and natural gas in abundance. Mozambique has charted a course of 100 percent access to power over the next decade and has more than $10 billion of energy projects being constructed and in design.

Mozambique has a population of 31.3 million people and set to grow by 31.8 percent over the next 10 years to reach 41.2 million.  Currently, less than 40 percent of the population has access to reliable power.  Mozambique is fortunate to have access to renewable resources in abundance as well as natural gas reserves.

There are currently more than $10 billion of active energy projects in the country.  Half of which is currently in the construction phase and the rest in design. The largest developer is the state-owned Electricidade de Mocambique accounting for 25 percent of the active projects.
