$3 Billion of active leisure projects in Morocco

Revenue generated by the hospitality industry accounts for almost 8 per cent of Morocco’s economy. With close to $3 billion of active hotel projects, Morocco understands the importance to remain relevant.

In 2019, more than 12 million tourists arrived in Morocco, spending more than $8 billion, or roughly 8 per cent of Morocco’s Gross Domestic Product. That was before COVID-19 decimated that sector. For long, destinations such as Marakesh and Casablanca are on many international tourists lists.

There are currently close to $3 billion of active projects in the tourism and leisure sector in Morocco. Most of this is under construction with 12 per cent still on the drawing board. Markets anticipate that the tourism sector will bounce back quickly when large quantities of the COVID-19 vaccines are released.
