Cameroon has more than $10 billion of active projects, of which $3 billion is under construction. The population will increase by 27 per cent over the next decade, increasing demand for infrastructure.
Growing at 27 per cent, Cameroon’s population will increase to 35 million over the next ten years from the current 27 million. Based on analysis done by ABiQ, Cameroon is a mid-tier country and ranked in the mid-twenties in Africa for both GDP growth and GDP per capita. However, it is ranked 39th in Africa, looking at over market risk.
There are currently more than $10 billion of active projects in Cameroon, of which $3 billion is under construction. The energy sector is the busiest, accounting for almost two-thirds of the active projects by value and 40 per cent by the number of Africa projects.

Nachtigal Hydroelectric Dam
Located on the Sanaga river in Nachtigal and developed by the Nachtigal Hydro Power Company, the run-of-river hydropower plant has 420 megawatts capacity. BESIX is the main contractor, and Bouygues Energies and Services is the civil subcontractor.
Yaounde Douala Highway
The Cameroon Ministry of Public Works is responsible for developing the 196-kilometre motorway. Phase I of the project is 60-kilometres long, and the main contractor is China First Highway Engineering Company (CFHEC) and funded by The Export-Import Bank of China.
Yaounde Hyatt Regency Hotel
Glenview SA is the developer of the 300-key hotel and 100-apartment facility in Yaouande. Included in the scope of work is a two thousand seat capacity conference venue.
Lena Tibati Road
The Cameroon Ministry of Public Works is upgrading the 115-kilometre road between Lena and Tibati. Works include a seven-metre wide carriageway and five bridges. Sogea Satom Cameroon is the primary contractor on this project.
Logone River Bridge
The 620-metre bridge crosses the Logone river connecting Cameroon to Chad. Developed jointly by the Cameroon Ministry of Energy and Water Resources and Chad Ministry of Civil Aviation Transport and National Meteorology whilst funding is provided by the European Union and African Development Bank Group. Razel-Bec is the main contrctor.
