Tanzania LNG Liquefaction Plant
This $30 billion Tanzania Liquefied Natural Gas Liquefaction project is located in Lindi, the southern part of Tanzania. The Tanzania Liquefied Natural Gas Liquefaction project is led by Shell. Construction for the Tanzania Liquefied Natural Gas Liquefaction is set to begin in 2023. The Tanzania Liquefied Natural Gas Liquefaction project will have the capacity to produce 10 million tons of LNG per year, rendering it the status of the first megaproject in Tanzania. The Tanzania Liquefied Natural Gas Liquefaction project will comprise five trains, each capable of producing five million tons of LNG per year.
Rovuma LNG
The Rovuma Liquefied Natural Gas project is located about 40 kilometres off the Cabo Delgado coast in northern Mozambique.The Rovuma LNG project is estimated to cost $30-billion and is set to begin production in 2025. The Rovuma Liquefied Natural Gas facility will be one of the largest projects in Africa with an expected capacity of 15.2 million tons of LNG per year.
Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline
The Nigerian and Moroccan governments are planning to build the world’s longest offshore pipeline in the world to carry gas from Nigeria to Morocco. The Nigeria-Morocco Gas pipeline will run across 11 West African countries. The net worth of the Nigeria-Morocco Gas pipeline project is a massive $25,000 million. The Nigeria-Morocco Gas pipeline project will have an estimated annual capacity of 30 billion cubic metres of natural gas.
The Nigeria-Morocco Gas pipeline project will commence in the Warri region in Nigeria and carry on to the north through Niger to Hassi R’Mel in Algeria. There, it will connect with the existing Trans-Mediterranean, Maghreb-Europe, Medgaz, and Galsi pipelines. Once completed, the gas pipeline will be over 7,000km long
Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline
Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline, also known as the Nigeria-Algeria gas pipeline, is a 4,401 kilometres long project that will stretch from Nigeria to Algeria via Niger and Algeria to Spain. Although initially proposed in 1970, little to no progress was made over the next five decades. In 2019, the pipeline began to appear in planning documents. The Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline project will start in the Warri region in Nigeria and run north through Niger to Hassi R’Mel in Algeria. There, it will connect with the existing Trans-Mediterranean, Maghreb-Europe, Medgaz, and Galsi pipelines. The net expense is about $13 billion. The Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline project will have a capacity of 30 billion cubic metres of petroleum gas every year.
Richards Bay Refinery
The Richards Bay Refinery is located near Richards Bay, South Africa. The Richards Bay Refinery will be co-owned by The Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (SOC) and The Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco). The Richards Bay Refinery project is expected to be operational by 2028. South Africa’s Central Energy Fund (CEF) and Saudi Aramco have concluded a non-disclosure agreement. Therefore, not much is known about the project. It is, however, speculated that the crude distillation unit will process 300 million barrels per day.
