Kumasi-Paga Railway
The 595-kilometre rail line will link Kumasi in the country’s centre to Paga in the north on the Burkina Faso border. Developed by the Ghana Ministry of Railway Development, financed by the China Development Bank and constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, the project will complete by the end of the first quarter in 2023.
Accra Sky Train
A casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic, construction work on the Accra Sky Train, Ghana’s first light rail project, has been delayed. Construction work should start in September 2021 and developed over three phases. The Ghana Ministry of Railway Development is the client, and Wilson Bayly Holmes and Ovcon will do construction work.
Eastern and Western Railways Rehabilitation
The project includes part rehabilitating the old narrow gauge lines running east to west across the country and building new sections which will be standard gauge. Ghana Railway Company Limited is doing most of the rehabilitation works whilst Afcons Infrastructure Limited and China Railway Wuju Group Corporation are constructing the new sections.
Accra Trade Fair Centre Reconstruction
The mix use development includes the reconstruction of the Ghana Trade Fair and will include multiple hotels, retail, convention, exhibition, commercial and leisure facilities. Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited is the client and the architect is Adjaye Associates.
Appolonia City
Developed over a nine square kilometre site, the project will include the construction of 25 thousand housing units, a light industrial park and a central business district. Rendeavour Ghana is the developer and New Africa Construction is doing the construction work.
