Mozambique’s growth by 2030

14 Jan 2019

ABiQ has forecasted that Mozambique’s population is set to grow by more than 6 million over the next decade, that’s a 17% increase taking it up to 37.5 million people.

It’s latest GDP is about to exceed US $15 billion, which equals to $480 per capita. Another country with a high level of agriculture, this drives the bulk of its exports.

By 2030, ABiQ predicts that electricity demand will increase to 1.4GW, with 2.6 million new housing units requiring development. From a retail perspective, expect an increased space requirement of around 700 thousand square metres.

With an estimated 10.4 million children attending school, Mozambique will need an additional 66,000 teachers over the next decade if we assume a ratio of 30 children per teacher.

To support the health care system, approximately 45 new hospitals will be required with 1,300 new physicians to maintain the current standard of living.
