ABiQ predicts Gabon’s population will grow at 11% in the next decade to 2.4 million.

In 2019, the GDP was $18 billion, or almost $8,100 per capita. Gabon is the 5^th largest oil producer in Africa and oil accounts for over 45% of its GDP. As a result, the government is looking at diversifying its economy to reduce its dependence on oil.

 Power and water

Gabon aims to provide electricity to 85% of its rural areas by 2025. Therefore, to achieve the target, Gabon is expanding its power grid. We predict Gabon will need an additional power generating capacity of 10 megawatts by 2030.

The government has set a target to achieve a sustainable universal access to drinking water and sanitation nationwide. In order to achieve this goal, Gabon will require 20 million cubic metres of additional potable water by 2030.

 Retail

Gabon has been an attractive market for retailers with less competition. The country may have a smaller population but that has not stopped retailers from entering the market. We expect there will be an additional 26,000 square meter of retail space at the end of the next decade.

 Healthcare

The healthcare system has been one of the best in Africa. The government has invested in healthcare infrastructure in recent years. ABiQ forecast that Gabon will need 2 more hospitals by 2030. This is to maintain the current healthcare standards.
