Egypt is investing $1.8 Billion in new hospitals

North Africa is led by Egypt, with more than 60% of the new hospital projects. Egypt’s population exceeds 108 million, or 42% of North Africa’s total population. Egypt’s population growth rate is also the highest in North Africa. Investing in healthcare is a primary focus for the Egyptian government.

It is no wonder that Egypt has almost 60% of North Africa’s active hospital projects. North Africa has more than $2.7 billion of new hospitals under design and construction. Of these $2.7 billion new hospitals, $1.7 billion is in Egypt. CapitalMed Medical City in the Cairo Governorate is the most extensive hospital development in North Africa under construction. With a budget of over $850 millionRowad Modern Engineering will construct the two-thousand-bed facility in three phases.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation Algeria is building a 700-bed facility in the Zahada district in Algiers. Construction work on the $500 million facility should complete towards the end of 2023.

A joint venture between Societe Generale des Travaux du Maroc and Travaux Generaux de Construction de Casablanca is building the new New Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat. Construction work started in May 2022 and will take four years to complete.
